Do you have a celiac or gluten-intolerant family member, guest or perhaps you yourself are looking for gluten-free products in Canmore? Here is my Canmore list of places that stock gluten-free products. The list is in no particular order.

  • An Edible Life has changed their name to Middle Sister's Kitchen –109-112 Kananaskis Way. They make meals to go. There is no place to sit inside. They do have some gluten-free friendly products such as baked goods and ready-made meals that are made on site. They also supply other places in Canmore with baked goods. They are not 100% gluten-free. Please note that as per their website, they can’t guarantee no cross-contamination because wheat is used on site for other products.

  • Nutter’s Bulk & Natural Foods – 900 Railway Ave. Gluten-free products are placed with regular products in the store but they also have a gluten-free aisle and freezer section. This is a good place to buy harder to find items not stocked by the two grocery stores in town. I noticed the other day that they stock some limited Schär products.

  • Shoppers Drug Mart – 933 Railway Ave. They have a limited selection of gluten-free items.

  • Safeway - 1200 Railway Ave. Supermarket that has gluten-free products spread throughout the store. There is a location in the aisle by the ice cream that has some items grouped together and a freezer for bread across from the milk fridges, but you will need to go throughout the store looking for gluten-free products, for example the pasta aisle is where you will find gluten-free pasta.

  • Save-On-Foods – #2-950 Railway Ave. Supermarket that has gluten-free products placed with non-gluten-free items throughout the store. There is a one aisle that is a mixed of organic and gluten-free products, and two different freezers for gluten-free bread. One near the seafood area and another in the frozen food aisle. There are also many gluten-free items sprinkled throughout the store.

  • Quikieh Asian Grocery - 1306 Bow Valley Trail #5A. This small grocery store has been stocking more and more gluten-free products. We go here around once a week. If you are looking for Asian grocery products do check out this fantastic place. The staff are friendly and open to requests.

  • The Alder Cafe & Grocery - Origin at Spring Creek. The grocery store stocks some gluten-free products. They are mixed in with gluten products. They have gluten-free bread, pasta, chips, and sauces. I didn't see anything gluten-free at the Cafe.

Have I missed any stores? Let me know and I will add the store to the list. Where is your favourite place to shop for gluten-free products?
