Blog update (July 22, 2022). Miss P's has moved to a new location. You can now find them at 3126 Glenmore Court SE, Calgary. They are located in the Glenmore strip mall between Vape Boss and SouthPaw Gym.

I originally found Miss P's at the Market on Macleod, but it has now closed. When the Market was open I decided it was time to check it out. I was going to make a deliberate trip into Calgary to go to this market. I'd heard that there was a gluten-free bakery there that was a must try. So, off I went and I was not disappointed. Miss P's has moved again. They are no longer at Avenida Village, Miss P's is now located in the Glenmore strip mall between the Vape Boss and the SouthPaw Gym. The address is 3126 Glenmore Court SE Calgary. They still have tasty gluten-free treats. Patricia Osuch the owner and baker is a wonderful and knowledgeable person very enthusiastic about creating tasty, healthy gluten-free food. As always I had to buy a load of product to taste test! Because when I see gluten-free I just must buy, buy, buy!!!

bread photo

This loaf of bread is tasty. Patricia said that it doesn't need to be toasted. So of course, I got home and made an egg salad sandwich without toasting the bread and it was awesome. Very good. The bread was soft had a lovely texture and taste. Bit on the pricy side at $8.95 a loaf so it will be a now and then treat but unbelievably this gluten-free bread really doesn't need toasting.

Bread ingredients

Here is the ingredient list for the breads. As you can see the bread is not only gluten-free, but dairy, egg and GMO free too. I'm looking forward to trying the different types.

cupcakes

Now look at these beauties!! Who could resist? I really liked the coconut one, but I'm partial to coconut. The chocolate one was good to but a bit dry which could be because I bought it later in the day.. I'm not a big fan of the icing.

four treats

Now of these four the lemon bar was by far my favorite. I love lemon and this was lemony, not overly sweet and the crust tasted great. I used to make lemon bars before I was diagnoised and these taste pretty similar. I would buy this again. I was not a big fan of the rest. Everyone in Canada has their version of butter tart. Some love gooey runny tarts, thats me and others like them less runny. This is a solid type of butter tart that was tasty but not my favorite. I was disappointed that the filling wasn't runny but the pastry was nice and flaky. I found the Magic bar just overly sweet and it fell apart when picked up. The last tart is a coconut one which of course I love. Great pastry and chewy coconut filling.

four pies

I absolutely love to eat pies. Any type of pie. Sweet or Savory I'm in there. Which do you like the best? Here I tried four of the savory pies.

ham pie

My favorite was the ham pie. The pastry was fantastic and the filling very tasty. Had a nice hot mustard taste. Unfourtunely, as you can see it feel apart when I removed it to microwave. I give it a 9/10! Could do with more filling to pastry ratio. I will try it again.

steak pie

The steak pie had a nice beef flavour. The potatoes were undercooked and it needed more gravy. It held together pretty well. I think it would be good as part of a meal with potatoes, veggies and extra gravy on top. Had a great filling to pastry ratio. 7/10. I would give this a second try.

curry pie

I was looking forward to the curry pie. I like curry anything. But I was disappointed all around. Pastry definitely had a gluten-free after taste, different than the other pastries. The filling had a strange texture as if it was over ground, it was almost powdery and there was a bitterness to the filling as if the curry powder hadn't been cooked before it was added. I felt it could have done with some vegetables in the filling. 5/10. Will not buy again.

quiche

Lastly the ham and cheese quiche. Very good pastry filling ration. Eggs were a bit rubbery, but I did microwave it so that could have contributed to the texture. Overall I liked the quiche. Good filling to pastry ratio. Had a nice flavour, maybe nutmeg? 8/10. I would try it again.

Menu

I haven't been to the new location yet, but hope to get there next time I make it to Calgary. Do check out Miss P's! Here is their website: https://www.misspsglutenfree.com/ I'm looking forward to trying all the other breads and treats.
