I've been to the Wild Orchid Bistro & Sushi Lounge in Canmore many times since my first review back in 2017. Definitely time for an update! Their menu has many of the old favourites and some new ones. The restaurant is a 100% gluten-free. The menu is asian fusion. I just love that I can order anything here and feel safe eating it. This time three of us enjoyed dinner there. We decided to share a couple of sushi rolls, some tapas and two desserts. We were satsified with the amount of food and variety of flavours and textures.
The Ginger Chicken is still my favourite! I just love the thin crispy strips of ginger chicken and yummy sweet sauce. They now add crunchy deep fried ginger slices to the dish which were so tasty. Honestly I could just order a couple of these and be very satisfied.
Had to have the Asian Street Fries. I'm addicted to fries of any type. These were a hit with our group. Loved the spicy aioli sauce and freshness of the green onion.
This dish was new to us, so had to give it a try. The flavours were good, but the salmon was overcooked, so a bit dry. Don't think we would order it again.
Always have to order some sushi rolls. Especially love the Negi Toro, it is simple and tasty. Another favourite was the Cruchy Salmon Roll, tastes so delicious. Love the oroshi ponzu and garlic chips. We have tried many of the sushi rolls and have enjoyed them all.
Had to order the Ginger Tofu. I love fried tofu. Same sweet yummy sauce that is served with the Ginger Chicken.
We decided to share two desserts. The first was the Coconut Creme Burlee. This is a dairy free dessert. The spun suger was spot on. The creme burlee was good. We enjoyed it but wouldn't order again.
Now the second dessert was top notch!!!! We all agreed we would order again and next time each get our own. The Lemon Curd Delight was as it name states "delightful". Perfect balance of sweet and lemon flavours and so creamy and light. A great way to end the meal.
I would a definitely recommend trying this place out especially if you are a celiac or have a gluten sensitivity. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We felt well cared for.
In the past I have had their ginger beef, tempura, teriyaki bison burger, fish & chips and the sticky treacle pudding. All of them were very yummy, I really enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. The restaurant is located inside the Silver Creek Lodge (1818 Mountain Ave, Canmore, Alberta www.wildorchidbistro.com). There is limited parking right in front and some parking on the side of the road.
If you go and try it out let me know what you thought of your experience. Do you worry about eating out and cross-contamination? What is your restaurant safety routine? Do you even still go out to restaurants? If so, how relaxed do you feel? Any good restaurant suggestions? I’m always on the lookout for new places to check out and I would love to hear about restaurants you feel safe eating at.
Please note that I’m not affiliated in any way with this restaurant and the above is my personal opinion and experience. celiacchat.ca is for entertainment purposes only. It is a way to share my celiac adventure with others.
