I couldn't resist buying these gluten-free sweet potaoto sticks when I saw them on my shopping trip to Emart in Calgary. They are delicious!!!
Before I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I used to buy these snacks. They were my favourite treat when I lived in Japan. According to the packaging, Shibuya Foods has been the No. 1 sweet potato snack manufacturer in Japan since 1952. They are a perfect balance of sweet and crunch. I love them! Very hard not to munch the whole package down in one go! Perfect with green tea.
Emart had two types: plain and with black sesame seed. Both are good, but I recommend the ones with the sesame seeds. I like the taste of the sesame seeds and the sticks are a bit thinner which adds to the crunch!
I was so happy to see many of my favourite Japanese products are being labelled gluten-free such as mirin, miso paste and wasabi. Of course, even when products are labelled gluten-free you need to read the ingredients. If in doubt always contact the manufacturer.
What was your favourite snack before going gluten-free? Have you been able to find a gluten-free version?
