I'm so excited this Christmas season, because there are more gluten-free Christmas products available then ever before in my hometown, and in the city there is even more selection!
So, in this blog, I'd like to share my 2019 gluten-free Christmas product finds. I'm so impressed at the number of choices Celiac's have this year compared to last year. We still have a long way to go compared to the gluten-free selection that I have seen in UK and Europe grocery stores, but we do have progress! Now this is just my small town and larger centres such as Calgary have a lot more selection and gluten-free only bakeries. I have also included some online options that I found.
Here is what Save-On-Foods had. I love Wendel's Truefoods gluten-free pies, and I was beyond hyped when I spotted their gluten-free minced fruit tarts!! I adore mincemeat tarts, and these do not disappoint. Great texture and takes me back to my pre-celiac Christmas days. I highly recommend them.
The Peppermint Stars are not my families favourites, but that doesn't reflect the quality of the cookie, just that we found out we don't like a strong peppermint flavour. The cookies have a nice shortbread texture, and a strong peppermint flavour. If you love peppermint than these cookies are for you. I think they might be good after dinner to clear your palate. Do you love peppermint?
The Gingerbread Babies are great. Very mild ginger flavour, and a soft chewy cookie texture. I think children would love these too, as they have a mild taste. They come undecorated, so you can have them plain, or make a quick icing and decorate them yourself. They would be great to use to decorate your gingerbread house, put in a Advent Calendar, or decorate and wrap in plastic and hang on your Christmas tree.
Wendel's Truefoods has great tasting certified gluten-free products. They are based in Fort Langely, BC Canada. Do check out their website to learn more about how they started selling certified gluten-free products, and the many other types of gluten-free products they make. Next time I drive to Vancouver, I will definitely make time to stop by and pick up some treats.
Now, this yummy gluten-free milk chocolate shaped gingerbread man was found at Nutter's Wholefoods in Canmore. There were dark chocolate ones too, but I'm a milk chocolate kinda girl. Very yummy, creamy Belgium chocolate. They are another Canadian company, this time based out of Quebec. Here is a link to Galerie Au Chocolat's website. Do check them out as you can order their chocolates online which is always great for special occasions.
These I found last year at Save-On-Foods and put in my freezer. I haven't seen them yet, but they usually come out in the store in December. I will be asking the manager if they are bringing them in. I have seen them in stores in Calgary. I love Lander's Australian Gluten-free shortbread. They are the perfect buttery, flaky shortbread. A staple in my Christmas cookie platter.
I found these Ganong Fruitfull candies at the Canadian Tire store in Canmore. Sometimes it is nice to have a candy option that is not chocolate. These have a great chewy texture and fruity flavour. I love that Ganong is another Canadian company. They are based in St. Stephen, New Brunswick and have an online store. You can check out their website here. I also picked up their Delecto chocolate caramels at Shopper's Drug Mart in Canmore. I love caramel chocolates and these do not disappoint.
I also had some luck finding a Moofree gluten-free advent calendar online this year, along with some of their Christmas chocolate bars. I ordered mine from Well.ca. Here is a link to that blog if you are interested.
I found Pure Lovin' Chocolate's website when I was looking for gluten-free chocolates this year. You can check out their website if you are interested. They make gluten-free chocolates and have an advent calendar. I haven't ordered anything yet as I have quite a bit of sweet things already for this year, but I may try them out next year. They are another Canadian company, this time based in Victoria, BC.
What new gluten-free Christmas products have you found this year?
