Above are the gluten-free Halloween treats I'm going to be giving out this 2024!
I love chips. Therefore, I like to give them out as treats. These were pretty economical this year. Is it my imagination or are Halloween treat prices high this year? These little 16 gram bags of Doritos Nacho Cheese chips are gluten-free and yummy!
Here is a photo of the ingredients list.
Also, going to give out Welch's Mixed Fruit snack bags. They are in Halloween shapes: Ghosts, Jack o Lanterns, Witches, Bats, and Haunted Houses.
Here is the Welch's Mixed Fruit snacks ingredients list.
For chocolate this year, I've decided to do mini O'Henry bars. They are a family favourite, so nice to have for us to snack on too!
Although not marked "gluten-free" as you can see by the ingredients list above, they are safe for celiacs. In Canada you can trust the labels. All gluten ingredients must be listed (barley, rye, oats and wheat) if in the product. As long as it's not high risk like cereals and flours. High risk products need a need to be labelled gluten-free.
I noticed this year that the boxes of mini chocolate bars in my town all have at least one gluten containing bar in them. Last year I was able to buy a mixed box of mini chocolate bars that were all gluten-free! Have you noticed this in your towns?
Also, a heads up that Aero's mini bars will be having a "may contains wheat" warning on them as they will start to be made on a mixed production line along with gluten containing bars. I see in the Canadian Celiac Association facebook page that this year they are safe, but they won't be next year. Supposedly the regular Aero bars will still be safe for celiacs as they will not be produced on a mixed production line. I think this just reinforces our need to always read the ingredients labels!
What are you giving out this year? I was thinking of adding a mini pop can too! Pop is quite cheap compared to the candy. Do you give out pop?
