If you are in Montreal then definitely visit the Parc Sans Gluten Bakery! Wow, what a treasure. I wish I lived close by as I would be there buying something every day. They are located at 4050 Avenue du Parc-La-Fontaine Plateaux, Montreal, Quebec. Across the street from the bakery is a lovely park with benches that you can go to and eat your treats.
Really run don't walk there! This is the best gluten-free bakery I have ever been too. Just look at that plate of gluten-free treats I bought. I suggest planning a vacation to Montreal just to go here. The croissants are so very delicious. They are light, flakey and layered. This baker is a magician! I actually asked my non-celiac husband to try them as I just couldn't believe they were gluten-free, but they are!!! Ohhh I may have to move to Montreal. ^_^
So, starting at the top of the photo there is the best gluten-free croissant I have ever had, then going clockwise there is a raison pastry, then a strawberry tart, a spinach and potato empanada and lastly half of a chicken wrap. Yep, I had already got into all of them!! They were all so delicious. I like a bit of spice so I did find that the empanada and wrap were mild, but still very yummy. They heated the wrap up for me and I ate part of it in the park. Again I can't say enough about how light and flaky the pastry is! So good.
This gem of a place makes both sweet and savory foods. Gorgeous cakes and the most wonderful looking bread Above is a photo of Parc Sans Gluten's cake dispay case. Just look at those lovely cakes and tarts! On top of the display case are carrot cakes.
Above is a photo of the food to go case. I had one of the wraps. If I lived or worked close by I would be here every day! So much choice. Just look at that lovely bread in the background. I didn't get a chance to try their bread, but from the reviews it sounds wonderful.
More flaky gluten-free pastries. I really wanted to try everything, but I did control myself. Look at those lovely gluten-free pastries! They had apple filling ones, savory ones, chocolate croissants and the list just goes on.
Here is what the bakery looks like from the outside. I think they are in the process of a renovation. Do check them out. Here is a link to their website in French. I used google translate to read it in English.
Really this is the best gluten-free bakery I have been to so far. Have you visited Parc Sans Gluten? What is your favourite thing to buy? Oh and as a side note for those of you who do not speak French "Sans Gluten" means "gluten-free". And I don't speak French well, but no worries if you don't speak French either, the staff speaks English.
