gluten free taco seasoning in a bowl

If you don't have a packet of gluten-free taco seasoning mix or just can't find one at the grocery store, here is my recipe.

Recently, I have noticed less gluten-free products in my local grocery stores! Have you noticed this where you shop? So, when we wanted tacos for dinner I needed to make a new batch of my homemade taco seasoning as I was out.

This is a super flexible recipe. Use what you have in your kitchen or what your family likes. You can adjust the heat by not using the cayenne pepper or pepper flakes. If you are watching your low FODMAPs then remove the onion and garlic powder ,if those are some of your triggers. If you are low on spices I have found that chili powder, paprika and cumin are the main spices that are needed.

Gluten-Free Taco Seasoning

Ingredients
  • 1 Tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon chipolte chili pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
Directions
  1. Measure all ingredients into a bowl and stir gently until combined.
  2. Store in an airtight container or jar in the fridge.
  3. About 2 tablespoons equals a store bought packet of seasoning. Use about 2 tablespoons to 1 pound or 450 grams of ground beef.

I use this seasoning mix for burritos and fajitas too.
