I recently came across these Go Raw gluten-free products while I was shopping at my local Safeway in Canmore, Alberta. Found them by the freezer section. Now I love lemon, so when I spied the 'Lemon Pie Flavour' I just had to get them. They had these four flavour choices and yes, I just had to buy all of them and do a taste test! As a celiac I'm always on the lookout for gluten-free snacks to add to my "Emergency Ration Kit" for when I'm out and about and unable to find a safe place to eat. I have also seen them at Save-On-Foods in Canmore. They range in price from $6.79 to $8.99 Canadian. They are pricey, so I would shop around or if possible wait until you see them on sale.
The lemon pie flavour sprouted seed cookie is my favorite! When you open the package it has a nice earthy lemon smell. The cookies are about the size of a loonie (a Canadian $1 coin). You can definitely taste the coconut and dates and the lemon flavour is not overwhelming. The only other ingredient is sesame seeds which I love.
My next favorite would be the ginger snap sprouted seed cookie. Again just four ingredients: coconut, sprouted sesame seeds, dates and ginger powder. Has a sharp ginger flavour that gives off a bit of heat in your mouth.
I do like the zesty pizza flavour sprouted flax snax. I tend to like savoury flavours over sweet. How about you? Which is your favorite? Savoury or Sweet? Definitely has a pizza aroma when you open the package. These ones have more ingredients: sprouted flaxseed, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, tomato powder, celtic sea salt, garlic powder, and spices. They are bursting with flavour and crisp and chewy.
Lastly, for me are the choco crunch sprouted seed cookies. They are ok. I would not buy them again, but you need to keep in mind that chocolate is just alright with me. I do not crave it. Luckily there are other members of my family for whom anything chocolate is to die for, so they will not go to waste! Definitely has a chocolate flavour that comes through as you chew. When I opened the package I smelt the dates mostly. Again just the four ingredients: coconut, sprouted sesame seeds, date and cacao.
I always like to find healthy snacks. These are made in the USA by Freeland Foods. As per their packaging they are gluten-free, nut-free, vegan, organic and non-GMO. All their products are not cooked. They advertise that they "keep it raw" and just gently dry their foods which they claim preserves the benefits of all the ingredients. I really like that they use simple yet tasty and healthy ingredients. I will most definitely buy them again. I will keep a look out for their other products also. Check out their Go Raw website for more information.
