I saw these lovely looking cookies on the gluten-free shelf at Safeway. They were $2.00 Canadian for a package of six. Oh my, they do taste divine!!!. Soft, chewy and just the right amount of dark chocolate flavour. I like coconut and these macaroons are tasty. Even my non-celiac friends enjoyed them. Yes, I will be buying them again.
They are made in the UK. I see on their website that they also make gluten-free Bakewell Slices as well. I'm going to have to see if I can find them in Canada! Has anyone seen them for sale in Calgary? Do you know what a Bakewell slice is? It can be a tart or slice and is a popular dessert in the UK. It is like a pie. It has short crust pastry on the bottom, then raspberry jam, then frangipane which is an almond pastry cream and lastly decorated with sliced almonds or vanilla icing and a cherry. There are many variations and I'm on the lookout for a gluten-free one I can buy in Canada. You can find out more information about Mrs Crimble's Ltd at www.mrscrimbles.com
As you can see in the information on the package they are imported into Canada by Canadian Natural & Specialty Brands http://www.cnsb.ca/.
Have you tried these cookies? Have you tried any of Mrs Crimble's other products? Which are your favorite? Where in Calgary do you buy yours?
