I don't like using raw egg whites for my Royal Icing. This year I couldn't find gluten-free, celiac safe meringue powder anywhere. So, I tried this Royal-Like icing using light corn syrup and it worked out really well.

Royal-Like Icing

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 Tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
  • 4 or more cups icing sugar
Directions
  1. Mix the warm water and light corn syrup till combined
  2. Add your flavouring
  3. Add icing sugar and mix until you have the thickness you like

You can use it as is or add food colouring. I will be using this recipe for my gingerbread houses and sugar cookies from now on. Have you tried it? What did you think?
